BAE is replacing this with 10 updated EA-37B aircraft, and the new EW system will enhance speed, altitude, endurance, and survivability, ensuring mission readiness.Duane Beaulieu, BAE Systems Compass Call technical director, highlighted the unique and powerful EW capabilities of the EA-37B, making it a valuable asset for the US Air Force and coalition forces. As the fleet is introduced, the Air Force aims to dominate the electromagnetic spectrum.BAE Systems has a history of providing the Compass Call EW mission system, adapting it to face evolving threats. He said self-reliance meant manufacturing every ship, submarine, aircraft, and weapon system in India."The Indian navy is committed to achieving aatma-nirbharta and we have promised the national leadership that we will become completely aatma-nirbhar by 2047, and for that, we will require the help of industry," said the chief of naval staff.He was speaking after inaugurating a manufacturing plant of Nibe Defence and Aerospace, an MSME working on various defence projects, in Chakan. Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt, was also present.This facility is strengthening our ability to make our own weapon system in the country in line with the national vision for self-reliance, the Navy chief said."Becoming 'aatmanirbhar' by 2047 means that every ship, submarine, aircraft, and weapon system will be made in India," Admiral Hari Kumar said.On the occasion, he informed about various levels of self-reliance attained in the defence ship sector."A ship has three components - float, move, and fight. In the float component, we have achieved almost 95 per cent (self-reliance). In the 'move' component, we are somewhere at 65 per cent and in the 'fight' component, we are at 55 per cent."A lot of thrust has been given to the move and fight components, which means all our weapons, weapon systems, sensors, radars, missile launchers, missiles...all these need to be made in India and a lot of work is being done in that direction," the Navy chief said.Making all these weapon systems in India is not merely an economic necessity but a need for the strategic autonomy of the country, the Admiral added.He said the Indian Navy is supporting MSMEs, and particularly in Nibe Ltd's case, they are making the Brahmos launchers for ships."The Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) had organised a webinar in which we gave challenges to propose Navy technology. The Navy filtered over 300 proposals out of more than 1,100 received from MSMEs," Admiral Hari Kumar said.He said about 518 contracts were signed and more are in the pipeline."Some technologies are unique and have proven game-changers for us. It gives us the strategic autonomy that we require in times of conflict," the Navy chief added.Admiral Hari Kumar also spoke about the funding challenge for MSMEs and the suggestion to set up a strategic development bank in the country."The issue was raised with the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Finance. Notably, the U.S. has already sent 39 HIMARS to Ukraine since 2022 and secured orders from Estonia, Latvia, and Poland.In 2022, the U.S. Army sought market information to identify potential vendors capable of producing up to 500 HIMARS within five years. If the contract is awarded, it is expected to significantly boost the supply of this rocket launching platform.Lockheed Martin has ambitious plans for other defense systems as well. They plan to increase the annual production of HIMARS Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System ammunition by 40% in 2025, from 1,000 to 1,400 units.Moreover, the defense giant aims to raise the production of Javelin anti-tank missile systems to 3,960 units by late 2026, up from the current 2,400.Lockheed Martin has also secured advanced funds to increase the annual production of PAC-3 MSE air defense missiles to 650 by 2027. Earlier this month, he used an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to urge the United States to push its "satellite" Ukraine into peace talks, declaring that "sooner or later, we will come to an agreement."Some recent developments have fed the Kremlin's optimism.Aid for Ukraine remains stuck in the U.S. Congress while NATO allies have struggled to fill the gfollowing Ukraine's underperforming counteroffensive last summer. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decision to dismiss his popular military chief, Gen. The seizure set the stage for a potential Russian push deeper into Ukraine-held territory."While no large-scale offensive is currently taking place, Russian units are tasked with conducting smaller tactical attacks that at minimum inflict steady losses on Ukraine and allow Russian forces to seize and hold positions," said Jack Watling and Nick Reynolds of the Royal United Services Institute. Yuri Baluyevsky, the former chief of the military's General Staff, admitted that Ukrainian air defenses has effectively barred Russian warplanes from Ukrainian airspace and often make it risky for them to operate even over Russian-controlled territory. The purpose behind this surge is to assist terrorists and their associates in infiltration activities, according to the officials.Terrorist groups are using highly encrypted YSMS services, a technology that combines smartphones and radio sets for covert communication. This was revealed after studying the pattern of infiltration attempts and recent terror attacks, especially in the south of the Pir Panjal range in the Jammu region.This technology connects a handler of a terror outfit in PoK with the infiltrating group and its reception party in the Jammu region on a telecom network used across the LoC. The goal is to avoid detection by the Indian army or BSF, which guard the borders with Pakistan.The responsibility for boosting telecom signals has been given to the Special Communication Organization (SCO), led by Pakistani army officer Maj Gen Umar Ahmad Shah, believed to have formerly worked with Pakistan's spy agency ISI.The strategic placement of telecom towers near the LoC and the international border, designed to aid terrorists in infiltration activities, violates Article 45 of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) constitution, a body under the United Nations.Article 45 requires all 193-member countries to take steps to prevent the transmission or circulation of identification signals and to collaborate in locating and identifying stations transmitting such signals.The matter is being discussed at the ministerial level for international intervention, the officials said.The new telecom towers operate on Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology, with encryption done by a Chinese firm mainly for YSMS operations. This rogue telecom infrastructure supports infiltrating terrorists and their contacts in the Jammu and Kashmir regions.The deployment of CDMA technology aims to complicate monitoring efforts, as it allows multiple signals on a single transmission channel, posing challenges in controlling illegal communications.Despite the presence of the SCO in PoK, the signals from these towers offer minimal advantages in the Kashmir Valley due to its elevated terrain. However, their signals extend into the Jammu plains, reaching sensitive places like the Kot Balwal jail area.Conventional measures such as jammers and managed access systems have fallen short, prompting the development of advanced detection capabilities aimed at locating and neutralizing active phones within defined areas.Security agencies plan to test new technology nationwide, particularly in prisons, to combat security threats effectively.The smuggling of cell phones into prisons poses a significant public safety hazard, enabling criminals to orchestrate terror activities from within the confines of a prison.This comes after several security agencies indicated that telecom signals from PoK have been penetrating into Indian territories, affecting regions from Baramulla and Kupwara in Kashmir to Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch Districts in the Jammu division.Particular concern arises from the communication between terrorists on Indian soil and their handlers in Pakistan, facilitated by various technologies like LoRa, YSMS, Baidu, and Thuraya Satellite Communication. President Petr Pavel mentioned at the Munich Security Conference that if partner nations secure funding, up to 800,000 shells could be delivered. The delivery might begin in a few weeks and would include 500,000 155mm and 300,000 120mm rounds.President Pavel revealed that they have identified 500,000 pieces of 155-millimeter ammunition and 300,000 pieces of 122-millimeter ammunition. However, the potential supplier was not disclosed, as it is one of the conditions for procurement.Earlier, on January 31, Prague proposed a similar plan during an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels. The proposal aimed to acquire 450,000 artillery rounds from non-European Union nations. EU's top diplomat Josep Borrell mentioned South Korea as one potential supplier, which contradicted France's stance of focusing on procuring a million promised rounds from local producers.The goal is to deliver a total of 524,000 shells to Ukraine by March, meeting the original target by the end of the year. The European Union plans to reimburse countries with billions of euros through the European Peace Facility for sending shells from existing stockpiles. The order includes state-of-the-art personnel carriers and versatile conversion kits for medical, command & control, and anti-tank missions. Additionally, eight new vehicle variants will be introduced to the Austrian Armed Forces as part of the procurement under Austria’s “Development Plan 2032,” focusing on the comprehensive modernization of the Armed Forces.The Pandur 6×6 EVO vehicle family will now include a 120mm mortar combat system, along with mobile air defense and electronic warfare variants.These new vehicles will significantly enhance the Austrian Army’s medium infantry forces, providing increased mobility, protection, and effectiveness.Austrian Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner highlighted the significance of this acquisition, stating, “The procurement of 225 additional Pandur Evolution in different variants is the largest acquisition by the Austrian Army in 20 years. With an investment volume of 1.8 billion euros, we are not only investing in the security of Austria but also in Austria as a business location. With 70% value creation in Austria, the domestic Pandur production secures and creates jobs at over 220 companies.”Already under contract, 100 Pandur EVO vehicles are in production and delivery, with the third batch currently underway. The contract for this system is worth 227 million Canadian dollars ($168 million).Saab will also be supplying everything needed for the RBS 70 NG, like firing units, missiles, transport vehicles, and training and support services.Apart from this, Canada is investing 46 million Canadian dollars ($34 million) in a system to protect against drones. Minister Blair didn't reveal much about it, but it will help detect, identify, track, and defeat small UAVs, making sure that land operations can happen without any problems.Canadian troops in Latvia will also get some additional equipment like command-and-control tools, sensors, and support and training.The new anti-drone system is expected to be ready for use in the Canadian military later this year. Arif Amir himself was a victim of a fatal attack in 2010 at the Allama Iqbal airport.The family has a history of violence, with Balaj's grandfather being involved in a long-standing feud, as reported by Dawn.According to the police, an unidentified person fired shots at Balaj and two other guests, injuring them critically.
