Defense News ,India :-  India's Defense Ministry, through the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), has given the green light for a big upgrade to the BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle. This vehicle is very important for the Indian Army. This upgrade is happening at a crucial time, especially with the tensions in Eastern Ladakh, where BMP-2s are vital in facing off against Chinese forces.Making It Stronger with Homegrown InnovationThe BMP-2 is made in India under a license from Russia by the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB). Now, it's set to get much better thanks to a big boost in performance. Pinaka Aerospace Solutions, based in Bangalore, is leading this effort. They've created a fully Indian Transmission Control Unit (TCU), which is a central part of the vehicle's engine upgrade.A Full MakeoverImproving the BMP-2 goes beyond just upgrading the engine. The project includes a bunch of upgrades to make the vehicle better in combat:1. Night Vision: Making it easier to see and operate in the dark.2. Better Targeting: Improving the accuracy of firing for more effective hits.3. Improved Communication: Making it easier for soldiers to talk and share information during battles.4. Stronger Armor: Increasing protection for the crew against enemy attacks.Handling Tough TerrainOne big challenge for the upgraded BMP-2s is how well they can work in India's varied and often difficult terrains, especially in places like Eastern Ladakh.Pinaka's TCU aims to solve this challenge by:1. Automatic Gear Changes: Making gear shifts smoother and quicker, which is important for driving on rough ground.2. Maximum Power: Ensuring the vehicle gets the most power possible for good performance in all situations.3. Better Handling: Combining steering and braking for easier control in tricky landscapes.India's Own Strong ArmyWith the BMP-2 upgrade and Pinaka's TCU, India is taking a big step toward making its army stronger and more independent in terms of defense technology. This upgrade will give India a more powerful and flexible BMP-2 fleet, which is very important for the country's defense.

Defense News , Argentina :-  Argentina has decided to buy 24 ex-Danish F-16A/B MLU fighter jets to make its air defense stronger. The deal costs $650 million USD. Argentina picked the F-16 over India's LCA-Tejas and China's JF-17 Thunder planes. The choice shows how important it is for countries to get good value and trust in their defense buys. Argentina gets better planes to replace its old ones, and it's spending less money.Even though Tejas and JF-17 are good planes, Argentina went with the F-16 because it has a good track record in combat and many countries use it.Price was a big reason. Each ex-Danish F-16 costs around $14 million, way cheaper than new Tejas and JF-17 fighters.Along with the planes, the $650 million deal includes weapons worth $312 million, like advanced air-to-air missiles. Some experts think choosing the F-16 might mean Argentina wants to get closer to the United States. The US and its allies use F-16s a lot, so Argentina could work better with them. This decision shows that even though India and China are big in defense exports, Western planes like the F-16 still have a strong appeal.Argentina likely went for the ex-Danish F-16s because they're affordable, well-known, and could help Argentina work with NATO countries.

Defense News ,India :-  Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the people of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are themselves raising the demand for a merger with India. He expressed the confidence that the people of PoK will merge with India. He made the remarks during the 'AAP ki Adalat' programme on India TV. Asked about Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's recent remarks about Kashmir, Rajnath Singh said, "Can they ever take Kashmir? They should be worried about Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. I had said almost one and a half years ago that there will be no need for us to attack and occupy, because a situation is developing there that people of PoK themselves are demanding merger with India."On being asked whether the government was making any plan, he responded, "I will not say anything more, I should not. We are not going to attack any country. India has a character of never attacking any country in the world, nor has it occupied an inch of other's territory. But PoK was ours, PoK is ours, and I am confident that PoK will itself merge with India."Earlier in February, a political activist from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Amjad Ayub Mirza, has claimed that the people in PoK are fed up with Pakistoccupation and they are now demanding merger with India. In a video released by him, activist Mirza said, "The people of PoK in the last few days have told me that they now demand to be merged into India, as they are officially their citizens"."The recent elections in Pakistan have just given us a fractured mandate. The upcoming elections will have a fruitful result for India but we the people of PoK ask that, for how long will we have to wait to get rid of Pakistan's oppression and get merged in India?" the PoK activist added. He stated that India has a character of never attacking any nation and not occupying anyone's land. However, he asserted that India will give a befitting response if its prestige is attacked by anyone.Asked if China attacks India, Rajnath Singh said, "God should give them the good sense not to commit such mistakes. India has a character of never attacking any country, but if any country attacks us, we do not spare them. But the truth is that if anyone asks us, we have good relations with all our neighbours.""We want to maintain ties but not at the cost of India's self-respect. But if any country attacks India's prestige, it has the power to give it a befitting reply. We want to have good relations with neighbours because Atal ji used to say that we should keep in mind that we can change friends in life but neighbours never change," he added. He asserted that India will tackle any threat that arises from China. He emphasised that India has become a powerful nation in the world. On being asked whether there was any threat from China now, the Defence Minister said, "We will tackle if any threat arises, what's there in it. But, we cannot sit holding our head in hands thinking about the threat. If the threat arises, it will be tackled. India is no more a weak country. India has become a powerful country in the world."On Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegation that China has occupied nearly 2,000 square kilometres of India's territory, he expressed sadness over his remarks and stated that he does not want to remind him about the activities China did in 1962.He said, "I am feeling really sad that he is questioning the valour of our jawans. He should not be making such remarks. How much territory was occupied by China in 1962 and what activities have been done by China. I do not want to remind him and do not talk about it. Rest assured, today, we can say that we will not like to lose even an inch of our territory. I cannot disclose much about the details because India and China are engaged in talks, and the talks are going on in a right manner. Talks are going on in a cordial atmosphere. Otherwise, I would have disclosed more details. Please do not compel me to disclose more. I cannot disclose much."Earlier in February, India and China held the 21st round of Corps Commander level meeting on Monday at the Chushul-Moldo border to defuse tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement. The two nations have been engaged in a standoff since April-May 2020 over the transgressions by the Chinese Army in multiple areas including the Finger area, Galwan Valley, Hot springs, and Kongrung Nala. The situation worsened after violent clashes with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in June 2020.Lauding the bravery of India's defence personnel, he stated, "I just want to say that whatever happened with China this time too, I feel proud of the courage shown by soldiers of Indian Army, Air Force and Navy personnel. There are many such incidents that if countrymen are made aware of about the army of our country, their respect will increase further."Recalling the fight between India and China in Galwan, he stated that India's soldiers did not fire a single shot and instead were engaged in a physical combat. He said India lost 20 soldiers during the fight. However, China did not disclose information regarding their soldiers. He said, "You have seen what happened in Galwan during our fight with China, our brave jawans did not fire a single shot, they were engaged in physical combat. 20 of our jawans were killed, and how many Chinese soldiers were killed? I am not saying, but foreign agency reports say 35 to 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in the clashes. We have not said anything related to China. We have accepted it that 20 of our jawans were killed."He noted that "it is true that China is carrying out infrastructure development near Line of Control at a fast pace since a long time." He further said that Defence Minister during Congress government asked not to develop infrastructure on India-China border. He stated that India has started developing infrastructure at a fast pace after the Modi-led government came to power. He said, "it is true that China is carrying out infrastructure development near Line of Control at a fast pace since a long time. During Congress government, Defence Minister said that if we develop infrastructure on the India-China border, China will enter India, so do not develop infrastructure. After the Modi government came to power, we have also started developing infrastructure at a fast speed on border."Refuting Rahul Gandhi's claims that PM Narendra Modi fears China, he responded, "I am surprised when somebody says Modiji Darte Hain. It is not in his nature to be afraid. There is nothing to be afraid of. The problem is these people do not understand. Why are they raising questions about India's strength and valour".

Defense News ,India :-  Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the PDP, made a statement on Sunday, expressing concern that the lithium reserves in Jammu and Kashmir might be given to companies. She believes these companies may then give a portion of the profits they make from these reserves to the ruling party at the Centre. Her concern arose after reading a news report suggesting that the government plans to auction off the lithium blocks in Jammu and Kashmir again. In a post on X, she stated, "Now J&K's lithium reserves too are being plundered & gifted to dubious companies who will then donate a part of these illicit proceeds to the ruling party as ‘party fund’.”Mufti also pointed out the connection she sees between the BJP and wealthy individuals, suggesting it's why the government is ignoring the legitimate requests of the Ladakhi people to be included under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. She remarked, “Now that the nexus between BJP & crony capitalists stands exposed it offers the perfect explanation why GOI continues to ignore the legitimate demands of Ladakhis. Disturbing visuals of a frail Sonam Wangchuk too have not evoked a shred of empathy or concern.”Sonam Wangchuk had been on a hunger strike to support the statehood and constitutional safeguards under the Sixth Schedule for the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Space News ,India :-  NASA and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) recently took an interesting step to keep their mission running smoothly. The reflector dish, which is like a big mirror, at the center of their joint project, called the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR), had to travel from India to the United States and back again. This was because there were some possible issues that needed special attention. The reflector dish, which is covered in a thin layer of gold, is very important for the NISAR spacecraft. It helps to gather information about Earth by focusing radar signals. When ISRO was testing the equipment, they found out that the reflector dish could get too hot in space. This could have caused problems when they tried to unfold it during the mission. To fix this problem, NASA decided to put a special coating on the reflector dish. This coating would help to reflect sunlight, keeping the temperature under control.A NASA plane called a C-130 cargo aircraft flew the reflector dish back from Bangalore, India to a special lab at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. There, they applied the special coating. After that, the reflector dish will go back to India to be put back into the NISAR spacecraft. This unexpected twist shows how NASA and ISRO are committed to solving any problems that come up during their joint project. By taking this step, they make sure that the reflector dish can keep doing its job well, gathering important information about Earth for the NISAR mission.

Defense News ,India :-  Leaked sketches provide a sneak peek into India's big plans for its Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LRSAM) program. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is working hard on creating a special radar system called the High Power Radar (HPR) that can move around easily. This radar is meant to make the Indian Air Force (IAF) better at defending against attacks from the air.The HPR is a vital part of the LRSAM program. It's a heavy piece of equipment, weighing 30 tons, with a huge antenna that's 10 meters by 6 meters. It can detect things like planes and missiles better than anything before. It will be carried on a special vehicle that can handle its weight and move at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, even in tough areas. The goal of the LRSAM system is to protect against many different kinds of threats from the air, like hidden fighters, regular planes, missiles of different types, and drones. If everything goes as planned, this system will be able to cover an area of about 350 kilometers, which is a big improvement in how well India can guard its airspace. The project is called "Project Kusha," and it's still in the early stages. The IAF hopes to have the full LRSAM system ready to use by around 2028 or 2029. This shows that India is serious about building a strong defense using its own technology. The HPR's large antenna shows that it's really good at using radar. It's made to quickly find and stop many different kinds of threats from the air, including stealth planes, regular planes, missiles, precision-guided bombs, and drones.

Defense News ,India :- Prime Minister Narendra Modi unequivocally condemned the recent terror assault in the Moscow region, extending India's unwavering support to the Russian government and its people during this distressing period.A large concert hall in the Moscow region fell victim to a vicious terrorist attack on Friday night, as assailants unleashed gunfire on the crowd, resulting in the tragic loss of more than 90 lives, with over 100 individuals sustaining injuries. The perpetrators further exacerbated the situation by setting fire to the venue, prompting heightened security measures in Moscow and adjacent areas, leading to the cancellation of mass gatherings. In a statement, Modi denounced the barbaric act, expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He reiterated India's solidarity with the Russian Federation, emphasizing the nation's steadfast commitment to stand by its ally in confronting such challenges.Earlier in the week, Modi had conveyed his congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election. Subsequently, the two leaders engaged in a comprehensive discussion encompassing economic, energy, and connectivity initiatives, underscoring the robust counter-terrorism partnership shared between India and Russia. While reports have surfaced alleging the ISIS's claim of responsibility for the attack through social media channels, the Russian government has refrained from attributing the incident to any specific terrorist organization. However, Moscow has been alerting the international community about the potential role of ISIS in Eurasian regions, given its history of combatting the group's influence in Syria.Nevertheless, conflicting narratives have emerged, with some Russian security analysts implicating Ukraine or Ukrainian-extremist elements in the assault. Notably, Sergei Goncharov, a seasoned member of the Russian Alpha anti-terrorism unit, pointed fingers at Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov for orchestrating the attack. Conversely, an advisor to the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Mikhail Podolyak, denied any involvement from Kiev's end.Addressing the situation, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) head Aleksandr Bortnikov briefed President Putin on the detention of eleven suspects linked to the Crocus City Hall attack.Amidst these developments, sources have suggested that Russian authorities investigate the potential influence of Pakistani radicals on the perpetrators of the terror strike. With a rising number of Pakistani nationals in Russia for educational or trade purposes, concerns have been raised regarding the presence of radical elements among them. Strengthening visa protocols and scrutinizing the socio-academic background of Pakistani visa applicants are proposed as essential measures to curb the proliferation of extremist ideologies within Russia. The swift condemnation and expressions of solidarity from Prime Minister Modi underscore India's commitment to global security and cooperation, as nations unite in the face of terrorism's grave threats.

Defense News ,India :-  India’s ability to watch over its skies and communicate effectively is about to get much better. Mira Aerospace, based in Abu Dhabi, and Indian startup VEDA Aeronautics are teaming up. They're working together to create advanced High-Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) for the Indian Air Force (IAF).This partnership aims to bring a big change to how India keeps an eye on things from above. HAPS are special drones that use solar power and fly high in the sky, giving continuous surveillance over large areas. They are cheaper and more flexible than regular satellites and can stay up longer than typical drones.Mira Aerospace knows a lot about making these advanced drones, while VEDA Aeronautics is great at researching and developing new things. Together, they want to make HAPS that work especially well in Indian airspace. This partnership builds on a successful test flight done in India’s sky about a year ago. Dipesh Gupta, the boss at VEDA Aeronautics, sees huge possibilities for these drones, especially in line with the IAF's ‘Make in India’ effort. He predicts that at first, they'll need about 20-30 of these drones, each able to carry 20-30 kilograms of stuff. But as the Indian Navy and Coast Guard may also want them, they might end up needing 40-70 drones in the coming years. This project between India and the UAE to develop HAPS is a big step forward for India's defense and surveillance. It shows how important advanced drone technology is becoming in modern warfare and highlights India's dedication to making its own high-tech gear.

Defense News ,India :-   Singh Dynamics Ltd. has just revealed their latest firearm, the Rifle 235 Mark-1. This new gun is designed for military use and shooting enthusiasts. It's made to work with the 5.56x45mm cartridge, which is a very common type of bullet used by armies and gun lovers worldwide. What Makes It Special ?The Rifle 235 Mark-1 packs a punch while still being easy to handle. It uses the 5.56x45mm bullets, which are known for their balance of power and control. This makes the Mark-1 useful in many different combat situations. Also, because this bullet type is already widely used, it means there's plenty of ammo available, and it might be easier for soldiers who are used to similar guns to learn how to use it.What's the Catch ?While we don't have all the details about the Rifle 235 Mark-1 just yet, there's a bit of concern about its design. The description mentions that it has a "boxy design and sharp edges." While this might look cool, it could cause problems in real battles.Sharp edges might get caught on things like gear or bushes when soldiers are moving around. And the boxy shape might make it uncomfortable to hold or hard to use in tight spots. Most modern rifles are designed to be smooth and easy to handle, so this different design might not be ideal. What's Next ?The Rifle 235 Mark-1 is just the beginning for Singh Dynamics in the world of assault rifles. As they develop this rifle further, they'll need to think about how to make it easier and more comfortable for soldiers to use in real combat situations. They might tweak the design to make it smoother and more ergonomic, addressing the concerns about its shape and edges. It's up to Singh Dynamics to see if they can make these changes and turn the Mark-1 into a top choice for soldiers everywhere. Only time will tell if they can make it happen. Singh Dynamics is stepping into the assault rifle game with their Rifle 235 Mark-1. While it shows promise, there are some design concerns that need addressing. With some adjustments, this rifle could become a serious contender in the crowded market of assault rifles.

Defense News ,India :-  India's Foreign Minister, S Jaishankar, recently highlighted Pakistan's significant role in sponsoring terrorism, describing it as almost an "industry level" endeavor. Speaking during his visit to Singapore, Jaishankar emphasized India's firm stance against terrorism and its commitment to address the issue head-on.Jaishankar, currently on a trip to Singapore, addressed the topic during a question and answer session following his lecture on his book 'Why Bharat Matters' at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) of the National University of Singapore (NUS).He pointed out that every country desires a stable neighborhood, emphasizing the importance of peace and tranquility. However, Jaishankar noted that unfortunately, this is not the case with India due to Pakistan's consistent support for terrorism against India.Highlighting Pakistan's direct involvement in sponsoring terrorism, Jaishankar questioned how to deal with a neighbor openly using terrorism as a tool of statecraft. He emphasized that terrorism sponsored by Pakistan is not sporadic but rather a sustained effort, almost operating at an industrial level.Acknowledging the complexity of the issue, Jaishankar admitted that there's no quick fix. Nevertheless, he emphasized India's unwavering commitment to confront the problem. India refuses to ignore or downplay the issue anymore, recognizing that evading it only exacerbates the situation.Jaishankar emphasized that India's current sentiment is not to overlook terrorists. The strained relations between India and Pakistan escalated following terrorist attacks such as the 2016 Pathankot Air Force base attack and the Pulwama terror attack in 2019.The relationship further deteriorated after India's retaliatory airstrike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist training camp in Pakistan. Additionally, India's decision to revoke the special powers of Jammu and Kashmir and its bifurcation into two union territories in 2019 worsened the situation.India has consistently conveyed to Pakistan its desire for normal neighborly relations in an environment free from terror, hostility, and violence.India stands firm against terrorism and remains committed to addressing the issue of terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. Jaishankar's remarks underscore India's resolve to confront the problem head-on and not shy away from acknowledging and dealing with the challenges it poses.

Defense News ,Germany :-  India lodged a complaint on Saturday about what the German envoy said concerning Arvind Kejriwal's arrest in the Delhi liquor policy case. The ministry of external affairs said that the German envoy's words interfered with India's internal affairs.George Enzweiler, the deputy head of mission of the German embassy, was called in by the MEA to officially make the complaint. This protest from India happened after comments from the German foreign ministry stressing the need for a fair and unbiased trial for Kejriwal. The German spokesperson said, "We understand that India is a democratic country and hope that principles like judicial independence and democratic norms will be followed in this case." The spokesperson also talked about Kejriwal's right to a fair trial and the idea that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, which are important parts of the rule of law.Kejriwal got arrested because of his alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor policy scam. The central agency accuses him of being involved in a conspiracy. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) claims that the policy, which doesn't exist anymore, allowed retailers to make huge profits, about 185%, and wholesalers about 12%. Kejriwal will stay in ED custody until March 28 for further questioning about his role in the case. The investigation into the Delhi liquor policy case has been looking at a group of middlemen, businessmen, and politicians called the "South Group" by the central agencies. The ED's case focuses on the extremely high profits that the policy allowed for retailers and wholesalers. India's position on this issue shows its commitment to following legal procedures and ensuring a fair trial for everyone involved. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) plans to protest outside the Prime Minister's residence on March 26 against Kejriwal's arrest by the ED, as announced by party leader Gopal Rai.Currently, two senior AAP leaders, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, are in judicial custody because of the excise policy case. Sisodia, the former deputy CM, was taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 after being questioned extensively. Space News ,World :-  A big cloud of poisonous gas is moving across northern Europe from a volcano eruption in Iceland. This gas isn't likely to make people sick, but it might harm the ozone hole above the Arctic, scientists say.Last week, a volcano in Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula erupted for the fourth time in a few months. This eruption made the biggest crack yet and let out a lot of lava. The lava almost reached a town called Grindavík, but luckily, it didn't reach the sea. If it did, it could have let out a gas called hydrochloric acid, which is very dangerous. Instead, the volcano released sulfur dioxide, a gas that can be harmful in large amounts. On March 17, it was spitting out about 110 pounds (50 kilograms) of sulfur dioxide every second. People working at a nearby power plant had to leave because of the gas, and locals were told to stay indoors.Since March 18, the amount of sulfur dioxide being released has gone down. But a European program called Copernicus has been watching the gas. They found that a big chunk of it formed a 3-mile-tall (5 kilometers) cloud and is now moving towards other countries in northern Europe. The cloud has already passed over the U.K. and is heading towards Scandinavia. But scientists don't think it will cause any problems with the air we breathe or the climate. However, it's still important to keep an eye on sulfur dioxide because it can react with the ozone in our atmosphere. Ozone helps protect us from the sun's harmful rays. In the past, a big eruption in Tonga made a huge hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica.Scientists think these eruptions in Iceland might be the start of many more over the next few centuries. If that happens, more sulfur dioxide could reach the Arctic, making the ozone holes even bigger."We need to keep watching what's happening in Iceland," says Laurence Rouil, who directs the Copernicus program.

Defense News ,India :-  In a recent announcement, the Indian Navy shared some remarkable news about their efforts in the Arabian Sea. They rescued over 100 people from dangerous situations, including 27 from Pakistan and 30 from Iran. These rescues were part of various anti-piracy operations aimed at keeping the waters safe. The Indian Navy revealed that besides conducting anti-piracy missions, such as 'Operation Sankalp,' they also responded to 13 attack incidents to save the lives of 110 individuals. Among those rescued were 45 Indians and 65 people from different countries. To strengthen security in the Arabian Sea, the Indian Navy deployed 10 warships along with surveillance aircraft. These measures were taken to prevent piracy and drone attacks in the region, ensuring the safety of Indian and international cargo traffic.Additionally, the Indian Air Force played a vital role by providing support. Their C-17 transport aircraft crew assisted in airdropping Marine Commandos and their equipment in the Arabian Sea for special operations against sea pirates. The Indian Navy's efforts came to light after the successful conclusion of a significant anti-piracy operation in the Arabian Sea. This operation involved capturing 35 Somali pirates, who were later handed over to the Mumbai Police. The operation utilized various resources, including a navy destroyer, a patrol ship, an Indian Air Force C-17 transporter, drones, and a surveillance jet. These assets were strategically deployed to intercept the pirate ship Ruen, which posed a threat after leaving Somali waters.Based on surveillance information, the Indian Navy tracked the movement of the pirate ship Ruen and directed INS Kolkata to intercept it. Kolkata successfully intercepted Ruen on March 15, confirming the presence of armed pirates through a ship-launched drone.During the interception, the pirates engaged in gunfire, shooting down the drone and targeting the Indian Naval warship. In response, INS Kolkata disabled the pirate ship's steering system and navigational aids, forcing it to stop. With precise actions and negotiations, INS Kolkata managed to secure the surrender of all 35 Somali pirates on March 16. The original crew members of MV Ruen, totaling 17 individuals, were safely evacuated without any harm. The capture of the MV Ruen by Somali pirates in December marked a significant event. However, the Indian Navy's swift and effective response demonstrated their commitment to maritime security and protecting lives at sea. Through coordinated efforts and strategic operations, they ensured the safety of individuals and prevented further acts of piracy in the region.
