DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY — German defence manufacturer Rheinmetall will showcase its naval technology portfolio at Euronaval 2026, scheduled from November 3 to 6 at Paris Nord Villepinte, France. At Stand J61 in Hall 6, the company will present systems for hybrid naval fleets combining crewed warships and uncrewed platforms.
The exhibition will include the Kraken K3 uncrewed surface vessel (USV), GMF 140 guided-missile frigate, Millennium gun system, MASS Nova decoy launcher, FV-014 loitering munition and Asteria multi-effect sea mines.
Kraken K3 USV and GMF 140 Frigate
The Kraken K3 USV will be presented to a wider international audience for the first time. Developed with British partner Kraken Technology Group through Rheinmetall Kraken GmbH, the vessel is in series production at Rheinmetall’s Blohm+Voss facility in Hamburg.
The vessel measures approximately 8.4 metres, carries a modular payload of around 600 kg and can reach speeds of up to 55 knots. Initial production capacity is planned at approximately 200 units annually, with scope to increase according to demand. Its roles include maritime surveillance, force protection, logistics and military or civilian missions.
Rheinmetall will also present its GMF 140 guided-missile frigate concept. The approximately 140-metre-long, 6,000-tonne ship is designed for air and ballistic missile defence, anti-submarine warfare and long-range strike. It is planned to accommodate a core crew of around 90, with additional space for 35 personnel, and reach approximately 30 knots.
Its proposed configuration includes US-sourced radar options, the Aegis combat system and 64 strike-length vertical launch system cells.
Millennium Gun System and MASS Nova
Rheinmetall will display a self-contained Millennium gun system designed to operate independently of a host ship’s existing data infrastructure.
It combines an Oerlikon AMMR S-band AESA surveillance radar, fire-control radar, electro-optical tracker and a compact mini combat management system. The system fuses sensor data in real time, allowing one operator to manage engagements against short-range air and surface threats.
The MASS Nova, the next generation of Rheinmetall’s Multi Ammunition Softkill System, will make its exhibition debut. It features variable firing angles and a capacity of 40+4 rounds of 81 mm Omni-Trap decoy ammunition. Its redesigned launcher can fire faster than previous versions to support quicker responses to incoming threats.
MASS Nova can also deploy longer 81 mm ammunition and the 3DDS (3D Decoy Swarm) capability. Rheinmetall’s MASS systems are already in service with multiple navies.
FV-014 Loitering Munition and Asteria Sea Mines
The FV-014 loitering munition combines reconnaissance, target identification and precision engagement at ranges of up to 100 kilometres. It has a flight duration of approximately 70 minutes and carries a high-explosive dual-purpose (HEDP) warhead for armoured and unarmoured targets.
Its sensors, network connectivity and autonomy support operations in environments affected by satellite-navigation interference. A single operator can control multiple units.
Rheinmetall will also showcase its Asteria multi-effect sea mines, which can be deployed from surface vessels, transport aircraft and submarines. They feature a bidirectional acoustic link for remote control and a multi-sensor architecture designed for target selectivity and resistance to countermeasures.
The mines are intended for securing harbours, straits, port facilities and other critical areas.
Rheinmetall’s Euronaval 2026 display will highlight its approach to hybrid naval operations through the integration of crewed vessels, autonomous platforms, shipboard weapons and supporting technologies.
