Defense News ,Turkey :- Title: "Turkey Welcomes New Naval Assets: Supply Ships, Frigate, and Unmanned Vessel Join the Fleet"
In a significant addition to its naval capabilities, the Turkish navy welcomed two supply ships, a frigate, and an unmanned surface vessel into service on Friday. The commissioning ceremony took place at Sefine Shipyard in Yalova, with notable attendees including the country's president, defense minister, chief of the General Staff, and top naval officer.
The largest of the vessels, TCG Derya, is a replenishment and logistics ship and now stands as the second-largest ship in the Turkish navy after the amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu. Constructed by Sefine Shipyard, TCG Derya has a capacity to carry 10,000 tons of fuel, 750 tons of fresh water, and 270 cubic meters of cargo. With a length of 199.9 meters and a width of 24.4 meters, the ship has a displacement of 26,115 tons. Propelled by a General Electric-made LM2500 gas turbine and two diesel engines, TCG Derya can reach a speed of 24 knots (28 mph). It is equipped with Gökdeniz gun mounts, 25mm remote control weapons stations, a landing pad, two hangars, and two replenishment-at-sea rigs on each side. The ship's primary mission is to supply a task force centered around the TCG Anadolu.
The second supply ship, TCG Üsteğmen Arif Ekmekçi, is the final vessel in the country's logistics support ship program. With a length of 106.51 meters and a width of 16.8 meters, the ship has a displacement of 8,477 tons. Powered by two diesel engines, it can reach a maximum speed of 12.5 knots. TCG Üsteğmen Arif Ekmekçi has the capability to accommodate a task force and can carry various supplies, including eight standard ISO containers, 631 tons of potable water, 336 tons of JP-5 fuel, and 4,036 tons of F-76 fuel. The ship includes a medical facility for surgeries, a large landing pad, and the ability to provide astern refueling to other ships.
The frigate TCG Istanbul, the first of its class, has a full-load displacement of 3,100 tons, a length of 113.2 meters, a beam of 14.4 meters, and a draft of 4.05 meters. With a top speed of 29 knots and a standard range of 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, the frigate accommodates a crew of 125. Armed with 16 Atmaca anti-ship missiles and equipped with the domestically made vertical launching system MIDLAS, the frigate counters airborne threats with Hisar-D and Sapan missiles.
Additionally, an unmanned surface vessel commissioned on the same day, named TCB 1101, adds to Turkey's naval capabilities. The 15-meter vessel has a range of 400 nautical miles, features electronic warfare technology, and is armed with a 12.7mm remote control weapons station. TCB 1101 participated in NATO exercises REPMUS 22 and Dynamic Messenger 22 in Portugal.
