Germany Sends Three More Gepard Anti-Aircraft Tanks to Ukraine

Defense News ,Germany & Ukraine :- Germany has reinforced its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine by delivering a significant arsenal of military equipment, including three additional Gepard anti-aircraft guns. This latest aid package, aimed at strengthening Ukraine defense capabilities, encompasses a diverse array of weaponry and vehicles.

The delivery comprises 30,000 air defense tank shells, 2,500 155mm artillery shells, two Wisent 1 mine clearance tanks, 10 Vector reconnaissance drones, two border patrol vehicles, and two airborne missile protection systems. The inclusion of the Gepard tank, renowned for its independent air-defense capabilities with a range of 550 kilometers (340 miles), adds a formidable asset to Ukraine military inventory. The Gepard mobility is facilitated by a 3,700 cc MTU multi-fuel engine, enabling speeds of up to 65 kilometers (40 miles) per hour.

Germany Ministry of Defence emphasizes its commitment to further aid, with a focus on ensuring the Ukrainian Armed Forces remain operational and well-equipped. The ongoing support extends to bolstering air defense, artillery, armored battle vehicles, and ammunition.

Germany robust alliance with Ukraine is evident in its substantial contributions, totaling 22 billion euros ($24 million) in humanitarian, financial, and military assistance. In a significant announcement, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius disclosed plans to double military aid for Ukraine, allocating a substantial 8 billion euros ($8.5 billion) for future support.

This recent military aid delivery follows Germany provision of Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine last year, underscoring the sustained commitment to enhancing Ukraine defense capabilities.
