Central agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), have also mobilized their presence at the site, emphasizing a heightened security posture.
The security apparatus in Delhi was thrust into action following an emergency call reporting an "explosion" near the Israel Embassy in Chanakyapuri on Tuesday. Intensive search operations led to the discovery of potential evidentiary exhibits, notably a typed letter addressed to the Israeli Ambassador to India.
According to a statement from Delhi Police, the emergency call at 5:53 p.m. on Tuesday reported a "loud sound from the rear side of the Israel Embassy." In response, a comprehensive team comprising a dog squad, crime team, and bomb disposal squad was dispatched to investigate the reported explosion sound.
Citing the sensitivity of the site and the nature of the reported incident, the Delhi Police spokesperson stated, "Subsequently, experts from the forensic science laboratory (FSL) also reached the scene, and the area was cordoned off for a meticulous search." The forensic experts conducted an examination, collecting potential evidentiary exhibits, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis.
Simultaneously, the Israel Embassy officially confirmed the occurrence of an "explosion" near its premises, assuring the safety of all workers and diplomats present. Ohad Nakash Kaynar, Deputy Chief of Mission of Israel to India, provided a video statement, saying, "This evening, several minutes after 5 p.m., an explosion occurred in close proximity to the Embassy. All our workers and diplomats are safe. Our security teams are working in full cooperation with the local security forces, and they will investigate the matter."
