Defense news ,India :- In a significant development at a special CBI court, an eyewitness on Thursday positively identified Yasin Malik, the leader of the Hurriyat and chief of JKLF, as the primary assailant who fired upon Indian Air Force personnel in Srinagar in 1990, according to a report by PTI.
The distressing incident unfolded on January 25, 1990, in Rawalpora on the outskirts of Srinagar, resulting in the tragic demise of four IAF personnel, including a squadron leader, and causing injuries to 22 others.
Rajwar Umeshwar Singh, a former IAF staff member and a key prosecution witness, made the identification during the court proceedings. Yasin Malik, who has been held in Delhi's Tihar Jail for several years, appeared before the court through a video link.
The court's recognition of Malik as the alleged perpetrator in the shooting marks a pivotal moment in the case. Monika Kohli, Senior Public Prosecutor for CBI, emphasized the significance of the eyewitness positively identifying Malik as the individual responsible for the attack.
