US Marine Corps Orders 200 Advanced Tactical Robots from Israeli Manufacturer Roboteam

The US Marine Corps has placed a $30 million order for 200 Micro Tactical Ground Robots (MTGRs) from Israeli manufacturer Roboteam to enhance their operational capabilities.

The United States Marine Corps has signed a $30 million deal to purchase 200 Micro Tactical Ground Robots (MTGRs) from Israeli unmanned systems manufacturer Roboteam. Announced earlier this week, this acquisition is aimed at boosting the Marines' operational efficiency and safety in various tactical scenarios.

The MTGR is a lightweight, highly maneuverable unmanned system designed to perform tasks that are challenging for traditional ground vehicles. Weighing only 15 kilograms (33 pounds), this man-portable robotic platform is the second lightest in Roboteam’s inventory. Its capabilities include climbing stairs, navigating through tight spaces, and righting itself if it falls, making it ideal for surveillance, tactical maneuvers, and explosive ordnance disposal missions.

Roboteam has emphasized that the MTGR is built for superior performance and adaptability, ensuring that it can meet the demands of modern battlefield conditions. The robots will be customized to meet the specific operational needs of the US Marine Corps, enhancing their unmanned battlefield capabilities.

To comply with the terms of the contract, the MTGRs will be manufactured in the United States, with final assembly taking place at Roboteam’s American partner, Mistral Inc. The delivery of these robots is expected by the first quarter of 2025.

Matan Shirvi, CEO of Roboteam, expressed pride in the selection of the MTGR by the US Marine Corps, noting that their unmanned platforms are designed to empower defense forces globally while prioritizing the safety of soldiers.

This contract underscores the ongoing collaboration between the US and Israel in defense technology and highlights the increasing role of unmanned systems in modern military operations. The MTGR’s advanced features and robust design make it a valuable asset for the Marines, offering enhanced capabilities in complex and hazardous environments.
