YALOVA, Türkiye, August 12, 2026 — A Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed on Wednesday during a training flight in the northwestern province of Yalova, the Turkish Defense Ministry said.
The aircraft was involved in the incident at Yalova Airfield Command. The pilot successfully ejected before the crash and survived.
“One of our Air Force’s F-16 aircraft crashed in Yalova during a training flight; the pilot ejected and survived,” the Defense Ministry said. The ministry added that the cause of the crash will be determined through a detailed investigation.
Yalova Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta also confirmed the accident and said he was heading to the scene. Local media footage showed black smoke rising from a field near the crash site.
Military authorities secured the area, while an investigation was launched to determine the cause of the accident. Officials have not provided further details about the pilot’s condition or any damage or injuries on the ground.
