Ukraine’s SkyFall Unveils Thor Hammer Strike UAV With Up to 600-Km Range

KYIV, — Ukrainian defense technology company SkyFall has officially introduced the Thor Hammer, a new heavy strike unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the middle-range strike class. The system has already been used on the battlefield.

Thor Hammer Specifications

The Thor Hammer is being produced in variants with ranges of 350 km and up to 600 km (373 miles). It has a 3.5-meter (11.5-foot) wingspan, a 3-meter (9.8-foot) length and a maximum speed of 180 km/h (112 mph).

The UAV is designed to carry a 40–50 kg (88–110 lb) high-explosive warhead. It can be launched using either a catapult system or a launch booster.

Navigation and Terminal Guidance

The UAV uses a combination of satellite, inertial and backup positioning systems. SkyFall says much of its core electronics was developed internally.

For the final stage of a strike, the Thor Hammer uses artificial intelligence and computer vision for terminal guidance and trajectory correction. According to SkyFall, the system can continue its trajectory correction even if video and radio communications are completely lost.

When communications are available, the UAV can be remotely operated from distant command posts. It can use Starlink or other secure communications systems, depending on the mission.

Cost and Production

SkyFall has reported a price of $25,000–$30,000 per UAV, depending on configuration. The Thor Hammer has been codified by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, clearing it for procurement.

The company plans to increase production to 5,000 units per month by the end of 2026. SkyFall also provides proprietary software, operator and technician training, and 24/7 technical support.

Future Development

SkyFall is developing domestic engines for the middle-strike class to reduce reliance on external propulsion suppliers.

The company is also working on an extended-range version of the Thor Hammer designed to strike targets at distances of more than 1,000 km (621 miles).
