RTX Awarded USD 345 Million to Deliver StormBreaker Smart Weapons to the US Air Force

Defense News ,U.S :- Raytheon, a prominent player in the industry, has secured a substantial USD 345 million contract from the U.S. Air Force for the production and delivery of over 1,500 StormBreaker smart weapons.

Distinguished as a cutting-edge air-to-surface weapon, StormBreaker stands out for its network-enabled capabilities, allowing it to effectively engage moving targets in diverse weather conditions. This is made possible through its advanced multi-effects warhead and tri-mode seeker technology.

Paul Ferraro, the President of Air Power at Raytheon, emphasized StormBreaker position as the premier network-enabled weapon within the Department of Defense. He noted that the weapon has already been deployed on two platforms, with ongoing testing for additional platforms. Ferraro expressed confidence in StormBreaker continued evolution to meet the evolving needs of servicemembers in the coming years.

The F-15E Strike Eagle and F/A-18E/F SuperHornet currently host StormBreaker, demonstrating its versatility. Moreover, testing is in progress for integration with all variants of the F-35. In a testament to its capabilities, StormBreaker accomplished 28 successful test drops across these platforms in the year 2023.
