Third batch of M1A1 Abrams Tanks Arrives in Poland

Defense News ,Poland :- Poland has just received its third set of powerful M1A1 Abrams tanks from the United States. This new delivery includes 29 tanks, and it's all part of a big defense deal made between Poland and the United States last year.

The agreement is worth a whopping $1.4 billion, with the United States chipping in $200 million. In total, Poland is set to receive 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks as part of this deal. But that's not all – the agreement also includes other heavy equipment like 12 M88A2 Hercules vehicles, 8 M1074 Joint Assault Bridges, 6 M577 command vehicles, and 26 NG SECM Mobile Maintenance Systems. And it's not just about the hardware – training services and logistical support are also part of the package.

The Polish Ministry of National Defense mentioned that the tanks they are getting will be adjusted to meet the specific needs of the Polish army, although they haven't shared the exact changes.

The first bunch of 14 M1A1 Abrams tanks arrived in June 2023, followed by 26 more in November 2023. Now, with the latest delivery of 29 tanks, Poland's land forces have a total of 69 M1A1 Abrams tanks from the United States. The remaining tanks are expected to be delivered throughout 2024.

Looking forward, Poland has plans to make separate deals with the United States to get 120mm tank ammunition for their M1A1 Abrams tanks.
