Russia Accidentally Bombs Own Village Near Ukraine
Defense News ,Russia & Ukraine War :- Russia admitted to unintentionally bombing a village in the southern Voronezh region near Ukraine on Tuesday, assuring that there were no casualties in the incident. The occurrence coincided with a significant missile attack by Russia on Ukraine, marking another unfortunate event in its nearly two-year-long offensive.
The Russian army released a statement through news agencies, explaining that the abnormal discharge of aircraft ammunition took place around 9 am Moscow time during a flight of the Aerospace Forces. The affected village, Petropavlovka, is situated approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) east of the Ukraine border.
Despite the lack of casualties, the incident caused damage to six private houses in Petropavlovka, as reported by Russian news agencies. An ongoing investigation is being conducted to understand the circumstances surrounding the mishap, with a dedicated commission on the ground assessing the extent of the damage and providing assistance in the restoration of houses, according to the statement.
Alexander Gusev, the governor of the Voronezh region, disclosed that some residents of Petropavlovka have been relocated to temporary accommodation. While confirming no casualties, he acknowledged "destruction recorded in seven households." This incident follows a similar one in April of the previous year when the Russian army acknowledged a warplane accidentally dropping a bomb in its own city, Belgorod, near the Ukraine border, resulting in a blast.
