NSG to Set Up New Units in Ayodhya, Pathankot, and Kerala by Year End

The National Security Guards (NSG) will soon establish new units in Ayodhya, Pathankot, and Kerala to enhance security and response capabilities in these strategic locations.

The National Security Guards (NSG) are expanding their presence with new units set to become operational in Ayodhya, Pathankot, and Kerala. This move aims to support local police and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in bolstering security and reducing response times in case of emergencies.

A senior NSG officer confirmed that the unit in Ayodhya will be operational in the next couple of months, with the units in Pathankot and Kerala expected to follow by the end of the year. The decision to establish these hubs has been under consideration for some time, involving multiple rounds of meetings to finalize the locations.

The Ram Temple in Ayodhya, inaugurated in January this year, is a sensitive site and a potential target for terrorist activities. The presence of an NSG unit will enhance its security significantly.

Pathankot, a border district with strategic importance, and Kerala, which has seen an increase in fundamentalist activities and has become a logistical hub for pan-Islamic terrorist groups, were chosen for their critical locations and threat perceptions. The new NSG units will be equipped with specialized weapons and anti-drone technology to address these specific security challenges.

Once these hubs are operational, there will be a total of eight NSG regional hubs across India. The existing hubs are located in Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Gandhinagar.

The establishment of these units is a proactive step to address potential threats and ensure a rapid response to any adverse situations, thereby enhancing national security.
