Indian Army To Deploy Apache Attack Helicopters In Jodhpur Near Pakistan Border
Defense News ,India :- The Indian Army is set to enhance its combat capabilities along the Pakistan border in the western desert by deploying six Apache attack helicopters at a military station in Jodhpur. According to military officials, the first of these helicopters is anticipated to arrive from the United States between February and March, adhering to the scheduled timeline outlined in the contract. Once in India, the choppers will be stationed in Jodhpur for operational purposes.
Currently, the Indian Air Force boasts a fleet of 22 Apache helicopters stationed at both the western and northern borders. With the upcoming Army inductions, the combined inventory of Apache helicopters will reach 28. Over 50 pilots and technicians have already undergone training at American facilities, in accordance with the contractual agreement. This comprehensive training program positions the Indian Armed Forces to swiftly operationalize the new fleet.
In response to the Chinese aggression in 2020, American attack helicopters were swiftly deployed in the eastern Ladakh sector, operating from forward bases in the region. Boeing, the original equipment manufacturer, confirmed in August of the preceding year that production of Apache Helicopters for the Indian Army had commenced at its cutting-edge facility in Mesa, Arizona.
This production process involves collaboration with Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL), a crucial partner in the manufacturing of AH-64E fuselages at its advanced facility in Hyderabad, India. Boeing highlighted that the AH-64 advanced technology and proven battlefield performance will significantly enhance the Indian Army operational effectiveness and bolster its defensive capabilities.
