The Indian Army has launched a pioneering skin bank facility, the first of its kind within the Armed Forces Medical Services, aimed at revolutionizing the treatment of severe burn injuries and other skin-related conditions for service personnel and their families. The facility was announced by the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) and will be staffed by a team of highly-trained medical professionals, including plastic surgeons, tissue engineers, and specialized technicians.

According to a statement from the Defence Ministry, the skin bank will serve as a central hub for the collection, processing, storage, and distribution of skin grafts, providing a critical resource for military medical centers across the country. This initiative ensures that service members and their families have access to advanced skin replacement therapies, thereby significantly improving their chances of recovery and rehabilitation.
