India To Supply 150,000 Units of 30mm And 40mm Grenades To Armenia

Armenia will receive a supply of 150,000 units of 30mm and 40mm grenades from India, facilitated by Munitions India Limited. As a strategic ally in the Caucasus region, India is considering further military equipment shipments to Armenia, building on the recent delivery of 5 million units of 7.62 mm caliber bullets by MIL.

This initiative aims to enhance self-sufficiency, save over Rs 100 crore in imports, and ensure the availability of grenades for the military even in emergency situations.

In a previous consignment, India provided Armenia with Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, anti-tank missiles, rockets, and ammunition, with the supplies reportedly routed through Iran, which shares historical ties with Armenia. Azerbaijan protested the weapons transfer.

Earlier in the year, India, Iran, and Armenia formed a trilateral to explore a transport corridor, fostering discussions on economic projects, regional communication channels, cultural exchanges, and trilateral cooperation. The use of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) was also considered as a regional connectivity initiative during their meeting in Yerevan in April.
